countries & regions to find nature & wildlife:
TANZANIA

Personal experience: I visited this country in late 2018 and 2020, and again in 2024.

My wildlife searching has been confined to day visits along the coast with expedition ships.

The most productive of these sites is the impressive Kilwa Ruins, an island of abandoned buildings that reflected the once busy coast of East Africa centuries ago when the region was important for trading. This previous settlement was at it's height during the time Europe was going through the 'middle ages', and the town here was described as "one of the most beautiful cities in the world" at the time. Today, even a short walk around these perception-changing ruins will produce a nice range of classic African coastal and colourful bush birds.
