The striking White-crowned Pigeon is usually a bird of the Caribbean mangroves (although you might get better views when it comes out into the surrounding scrub or even edge of urban areas to feed, as in image below).

Lurking in amongst the mangrove roots are various herons, stalking fish and other estuarine prey. The image below is of a 'Little Blue Heron' Egretta curelea: in the right light and at the right phase of its life the neck is maroon and the rest of the body is a grey-blue.
