Bolivia is for the adventurers! These days Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and Colombia are fairly slick and easy going. In Bolivia, it is not uncommon to have pertol stations run out of petrol, for taxi drivers an/or Uber to not turn up, and for hotels not be where they are supposed to be, guides turn up 15 minutes late, get stuck behind huge trucks, and for everyone to be driving at 90 km/hr in the many bizarrely slow 60km/hr zones.

But there is huge ecological diversity within a small area. You can explore a crazy range of habitats within a short distance, from altiplano alpine fields, to highland Yungas rainforest, to lowland jungle, to open savanna and wetlands, to arid woodlands, to desert. One half of the country is floooding, while the other half is parched from thirst.
