Birds

There are over 9,500 species of birds in the world, and they have successfully established themselves in almost every ecosystem all over the planet.

They are noticeable not just because they are diverse and widespread, but also because they are often daytime active, therefore making them the most obvious animals in any particular region.

Where to see birds in the Southern Ocean....

There are plenty of places to see birds.

The cold and wild, (but nutrient-rich) southern oceans are great spots for sea bird watching.

Where to see birds in Australia....

One of the best spots in Australia is along the Cairns esplanade.

To see hundreds of seabirds in a breeding colony, check out:
Michaelmas Cay.
For tropical rainforest birds there are several good spots. The Atherton Tablelands in the best region, and there are several places you can stay and see birds. For upland birds, check out:
