Polynesia
Polynesia means 'many islands'. It is a fairly vague geographical area based partly on a widespread culture and language similarities. It includes many different groups of islands that are either self governed or are colonies of other countries. In the south is the country of New Zealand. In the north is the Hawaiin Islands chain, part of the U.S.A. In the west it overlaps with 'Melanesia' in Fiji.
But perhaps the most famous and iconic cultural entity within Polynesia, is
French Polynesia.
